Configuring WiFi Performance Testing

To configure WiFi Performance testing, go to the configuration page through the primary Performance dashboard or directly @ https://console.802secure.net/wifi/performance/config/list.


From the list page you can observe the configured tasks including the SSID, target rates, time between tests and AirShield sensors assigned for testing.

 


Clicking on the New Config button will bring up a dialog where test details can be entered.



Field NameDescription
AirShieldAll the AirShields assigned to this test. Currently an AirShield may only have one test configuration assigned to it.
SSIDThe network name to connect to. AirShield will connect to the Access Point with the strongest signal nearby.  
EncryptionEncryption Type (None, WEP, WPA/WPA2)
PassphraseIf WEP the ASCII string, if WPA/WPA a string between 8 and 63 characters
WISPR UsernameIf a Hotspot with WISPR support, the Username required
WISPR PasswordIf a Hotspot with WISPR support, the Password required
Time Between TestsThe number of minutes between each test cycle.
Upload TargetDesired target upload rate from AirShield to Server in Megabytes 
Download Target
Desired target download rate from Server to AirShield in Megabytes


When all fields have been entered select the blue checkbox to save the configuration. The AirShields configured will then begin testing on their next check-in.
